Club Cafe announced it will close its daytime coffeehouse after just five months in business. According to an Instagram post on Thursday, the last day of operations for Club Cafe Coffee House will be Friday, March 13.

The music venue Club Cafe will remain open.

“We set out with bold goals, but to ensure our success as a small music venue in this ever challenging world, we must focus our resources on our main goal: maintaining our commitment to the local and touring artist community,” a post on the Club Cafe Coffee Instagram page reads. “We are incredibly grateful for our staff, the southside community and our customers who supported us from our opening until now. If time ever feels right to reconsider, we’ll let you know.”

Club Cafe owners Danielle Mashuda and Maddy Lafferty reopened the storied South Side music venue last July, which was in danger of closure at the end of 2024 after 25 years. The Coffee House, opened two months later on Oct. 1, was intended to be “a community-focused coffee space” supporting artists and professionals, the owners previously told TribLive.
