Karis Thomas scored 22 points, including seven in overtime, to lead WPIAL champion Shady Side Academy to a 63-54 win over Marion Center (23-5) in the PIAA Class 3A girls basketball first round Friday night.

Kate Benec had 11 points and Leah Buford added 10 for the Bulldogs, who will face Beaver Falls in the second round Tuesday.

Allderdice 49, Upper St. Clair 42 – Bailey White scored 22 points and Rhyan Sledge added 10 to lead Allderdice (20-6) to a Class 6A first-round win. Ryan Prunzik scored 10 points for Upper St. Clair (12-13). Allderdice will face Canon-McMillan in the second round Tuesday.

Beaver Falls 54, Seneca 52 – Taylor Pullen scored 20 points to lead Beaver Falls (24-2) past Seneca (19-6) in the Class 3A first round. The Tigers will face WPIAL champ Shady Side Academy in the second round Tuesday.

Canon-McMillan 58, Governor Mifflin 46 – Madison Clair scored 13 points and Sam Miller added 10 to lead Canon-McMillan (22-4) to a Class 6A first-round win. Bella Super scored 25 points for Governor Mifflin (17-9). The Big Macs will face Allderdice in the second round Tuesday.

Central Cambria 54, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 27 – Katie George scored 26 points to lead Central Cambria (21-6) past OLSH (19-8) in the Class 3A first round. Central Cambria will face Karns City in the second round Tuesday.

Chartiers-Houston 46, Kane 29 – Ali Wingard scored 15 points and Ava Kolovich added 11 to lead Chartiers-Houston (22-4) to a Class 2A first-round win. The Bucs will meet Bishop McCort in the second round Tuesday. Addison Haight led Kane (14-12) with 12 points.

Karns City 37, Seton LaSalle 24 – Naomi Venesky scored 10 points to lead Karns City (25-2) to a Class 3A first-round win. Ava Maroney scored 17 for Seton LaSalle (16-11). Karns City will take on Central Cambria in the second round Tuesday.

Kennedy Catholic 75, Rochester 35 – Bella Magestro scored 33 points and Tori Harvey added 28 to lead Kennedy Catholic (23-2) in the Class 2A first round. Kamryn Newman led Rochester (14-12) with 15. Kennedy Catholic will face Keystone in the second round Tuesday.

Keystone 60, Aliquippa 45 – Keira McGiffin scored 21 points to lead Keystone (15-10) to a Class 2A first-round win over Aliquippa (17-9). Keystone will meet Kennedy Catholic in the second round Tuesday.

Neshannock 80, Burgettstown 26 – Jaidon Nogay scored 19 points and Ainsley Allison and Lilly Cain had 14 points apiece to lead Neshannock (23-3) to a Class 2A first-round win. Paige Klodowski scored 10 points for Burgettstown (18-9). Sophia Bonner added 10 points for the Lancers, who will meet Penns Manor in Tuesday’s second round.

Northwestern 35, Quaker Valley 22 – Mimi Thiero scored 15 points to close out her career for Quaker Valley (19-8) in the PIAA Class 3A first round. Makayla Presser-Palmer, District 10’s all-time leading scorer, had 22 points for Northwestern (22-3), which will meet Greensburg Central Catholic in the second round Tuesday.

Wilmington 68, Fort Cherry 34 – Alyssa Flick scored 24 points and Reese Bruckner added 19 to lead Wilmington (22-4) to a Class 2A first-round win. Amarah Martino scored 10 to lead Fort Cherry (18-8). Wilmington will face Winchester Thurston in the second round Tuesday.

Winchester Thurston 60, Everett 50 – DaShae Cochran led with 24 points, Jasmine Hollins had 12 and Aleah Cooper added 11 for Winchester Thurston (22-4) in a Class 2A first-round win. Emma Rithcey scored 24 points and Lyla Levy had 19 for Everett (20-6). Winchester Thurston will face Wilmington in Tuesday’s second round.

Boys basketball

Cocalico 61, Hampton 58 – Timmy Hambright scored 28 points and Ethan Stradling added 10 to lead Cocalico (20-7) to a Class 5A first-round win. Gavin Guinn scored 20 points and Luca Romero-Lauro and Jonas Cupp had 12 points apiece for Hampton (15-9). Cocalico will face Chartiers Valley in the second round Tuesday.

Elk County Catholic 61, Monessen 29 – Chase Simbeck scored 13 points and Jake Wasko added 10 to lead Elk County Catholic (25-2) to a Class A first-round win. Rodney Johnson scored 14 points for Monessen (13-11). Elk County Catholic will face Serra Catholic in Tuesday’s second round.

Erie Cathedral Prep 79, Central Valley 49 – Ahmari Horton led with 22 points, Michael Thompson had 21 and Nando Mirarchi added 10 for Erie Cathedral Prep (25-1) in a Class 4A first-round win. Wyatt Clark scored 18 points and Angelo Conti had 12 for Central Valley (18-9). Erie Cathedral Prep will face Obama Academy in the second round Tuesday.

Erie First Christian Academy 91, Nazareth Prep 74 – Avery Collins poured in 54 points and eight 3-pointers and Simon Gonzalez added 14 points for Erie First Christian Academy (19-6) in a Class A first-round win. Zach Frye scored 23 points, Grey Wible had 21 and Darrell Hunter added 20 for Nazareth Prep (9-14).

Frederick Christian (MD) 69, Cheswick Christian Academy 55 – Cohen Wade scored 34 points to lead Frederick Christian to a 69-55 win over Cheswick Christian Academy in the division semifinals of the NCSAA Championships on Friday. Naz Weaver scored 14 points, Brady Rochkind 13 and Joseph Rosio 12 for the Chargers, who will face Calvary Temple (VA) on Saturday for third place. Rochkind suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the first half. Rosio became the school’s all-time assists leader with 414, passing Steve Holeczy (411).

Gateway 49, Milton Hershey 39 – Mykel Bruce-McCrommon scored 15 points and Chris Settles added 13 to lead Gateway (18-9) to a Class 5A first-round win. Khalif Turner scored 16 points for Milton Hershey (23-4). The Gators will meet Johnstown in the second round Tuesday.

Hickory 47, Quaker Valley 43 – Trevor Borowicz scored 23 points to lead Hickory (21-6) to a Class 4A first-round win. Zachary Washington scored 21 points for Quaker Valley (20-5). Hickory will face Deer Lakes in Tuesday’s second round.

Johnstown 68, Shaler 56 – Amire Robinson scored 24 points and Tommy Ashcom added 18 to lead Johnstown (19-4) to a Class 5A first-round win. Deron Nixon scored 15 points and Jordan Epps had 14 for Shaler (15-12). Johnstown will face Gateway in the second round Tuesday.

Moon 55, Hershey 49 – WPIAL fourth-place finisher Moon (21-4) went on the road and defeated District 3 third-place team Hershey (22-4) in the Class 5A first round. The Tigers will face Thomas Jefferson in the second round Tuesday.

Neighborhood Academy 50, St. Joseph Academy 32 – Kedron Gilmore scored 26 points to lead Neighborhood Academy (22-3) to a Class A first-round win. Isaiah Crispin scored 11 points for St. Joseph Academy (17-11).

North Catholic 64, Sharon 52 – Jude Rottmann led with 21 points, Jason Fredericks followed with 16 and Brandon Pickett added 12 to push North Catholic (20-6) to a Class 4A first-round win. Pickett scored 11 of his points in a third quarter that saw the Trojans outscore Sharon 30-19. Heath Miller scored 17 points for Sharon (19-7). Jake Olkowski added 10 points for the Trojans, who will meet Knoch in the second round Tuesday.

Obama Academy 55, Warren 50 – Eric James scored 11 points and Naron Jackson II added 10 as City League champ Obama Academy (17-9) defeated District 10’s Warren (15-11) in the Class 4A first round. Obama Academy will meet Cathedral Prep in the second round Tuesday.

Penn Hills 58, Meadville 45 – Amon Hawthorne led with 24 points and Calix Clark followed with 22 to push Penn Hills (20-7) to a Class 5A first-round win. Tykie Butler scored 18 points and Amarius Foster had 13 for Meadville (8-17). Penn Hills will meet West York in the second round Tuesday.

Serra Catholic 68, Bishop Carroll 49 – Tyler Sapida scored 18 points and Brayden Graham added 17 to lead Serra Catholic (15-10) to a Class A first-round win. Jace Casses scored 21 points for Bishop Carroll (12-13). The Eagles will face Elk County Catholic in Tuesday’s second round.

West York 64, Ringgold 57 – Breckin Lasher scored 16 points and Chase Cristofoletti added 15 to lead West York (21-1) to a Class 5A first-round win. David Wachinski led with 25 points and Dennis Hawkins had 12 for Ringgold (15-13). West York will meet Penn Hills in the second round Tuesday.

Calvary Christian Classic – Westmoreland Christian Academy dropped a pair of games in Butler. In the first, Isaac Eisley had 26 points to lead Williamsport Christian to a 39-27 win. Titus Kail had 10 points for WCA. In the second, Trent Rattigan scored 15 to lead Calvary Baptist to a 38-26 win. Hunter Morrison scored 11 for WCA.
