#Earned — Aubree Hupp knows what it takes to play for a championship.
As her incredible scholastic career winds down, she had been a big part of six title game opportunities for Blackhawk in seven district and state tournaments.
With Hupp as a starter, the Cougars have reached four straight WPIAL championship games and two PIAA finals.
However, there is a downside to this incredible tale.
In six district and state title games, Blackhawk has worn the runner-up mantle five times.
The only time they came home as the golden girls was when Blackhawk defeated Scranton Prep, 56-44, in the 2024 PIAA Class 4A finals when Hupp was a sophomore.
Her last hope at a WPIAL title came up short last week when top-seed Blackhawk fell to Oakland Catholic for a second straight year 51-44.
Hupp registered a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds against the Eagles. She also scored 20 points in the 2025 district finals.
The one thing the Cougars have proven in Hupp’s time with the program is they are resilient.
On the heels of four straight WPIAL second-place finishes, Blackhawk is a combined 12-2 in the PIAA playoffs, including a first-round win over District 10 Fairview on Saturday.
The Tigers were able to hang, trailing the Cougars by four after one quarter and six points at the half before Blackhawk slowly pulled away in the second half.
Once again, Hupp led the way on the scoresheet.
She was 7 of 15 from the field and 8 for 9 from the free-throw line to finish with a game-high 22 points.
She matched her point total in rebounds with 22 boards, 11 on offense and 11 on the defensive glass.
Hupp added three assists, one steal and three blocks to her busy afternoon.
In three WPIAL playoff games, Hupp scored a total of 71 points.
Up next for Blackhawk is a PIAA second-round date against Belle Vernon on Wednesday.
Hupp will continue her academic and basketball career in the fall at Division I Canisius in Buffalo.
