Fire completely destroyed a house in Plum on Tuesday morning.

The blaze at a home along Pierson Run Road started around 10 a.m., according to Chris Delsignore, who grew up in the home but now lives elsewhere in Plum.

Delsignore, 29, said fire officials hadn’t yet told him how the fire started. He said his father, Augustus “Butch” Delsignore, 68, and a younger brother were living in the home. Both escaped the blaze without injury. The elder Delsignore is a retired Plum Borough employee.

“There’s nothing really to say. I mean, everything is gone,” Chris Delsignore said. “I just basically stood here and watched my inheritance burn to the ground. Everything my dad worked for his whole life — gone.”

He said several pets were unaccounted for after the fire.

Fire crews from multiple communities battled the blaze for more than an hour. Pierson Run is a rural road that cuts through Boyce Park in several areas.

A demolition crew used machinery to knock down part of the home’s roof so fire crews could more safely finish extinguishing the flames.

Crews were still on scene shortly before 1 p.m.

This is a developing story.
