Greensburg council on Monday approved buying a new fire truck for Hose Company No. 1.

While council unanimously approved the purchase at $1.178 million, Councilman Randy Finfrock said the plan is to get a 10% discount by paying for the rescue pumper in full.

The money will come from parking revenue.

The truck will be built by Pierce Manufacturing and purchased through Glick Fire Equipment Company.

The fire department requested the new rescue pumper to replace two trucks at the McLaughlin Drive Station: a 2005 rescue vehicle and a 1999 engine. The rescue pumper wont hit the streets for about three years.

Two trucks it is replacing will be sold. The vote was 4-0. Councilman Donnie Zappone Jr. was absent.
