The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center in Sewickley will begin honoring the late director Rob Reiner on Friday by screening a slate of some of his beloved films.
“Since the tragic death of this Hollywood icon, we’ve been receiving requests to bring back some of his most recognized works to The Lindsay’s big screen,” Lindsay CEO Carolina Pais-Barreto Thor told TribLive. “It’s always a pleasure to screen films that moviegoers have treasured for decades, and Rob Reiner gave us some of the most cherished classics in cinema history.”
Reiner’s career spanned decades, and his work in film and TV made a major impact on Hollywood. His movies received dozens of major awards nominations. Reiner and his wife Michele were killed in an apparent homicide late last year.
The tragedy prompted an outpouring of appreciation for Reiner’s lifetime of work.
The Lindsay’s Rob Reiner Film Festival will run from March 13 to at least March 19.
The theater will be playing “This Is Spinal Tap,” “When Harry Met Sally…,” “Misery,” “A Few Good Men” and Reiner’s final film “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.” Tickets and showtimes are available now on the Lindsay’s website.
The Lindsay will also be playing this year’s Oscar-nominated short films through Thursday. The theater has extended its run of Pixar’s new movie “Hoppers” for an additional week. Other upcoming offerings include sci-fi flick “Project Hail Mary” on March 20 and an evening with local author Marie Benedict March 21.
