McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge to close for repairs

A closure of the McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday to prepare for a $50.77 million preservation project, according to PennDOT.

The bridge connects the two Monongahela River communities. It will be closed to traffic until April 7 though the sidewalks will stay open. A detour will be in place.

During the closure, crews from Mosites Construction will prepare the span for the project. After it reopens, traffic will be restricted to a single lane in each direction, PennDOT said.

The preservation work includes painting and concrete, steel and drainage repairs.
