Dr. Philip Nawrocki has been named medical director of Ross/West View Emergency Medical Services, while Dr. Angelica Cercone has been named pediatric medical director.

The addition of Cercone makes Ross/West view among the first EMS agencies in the region to have a secondary medical director specializing in pediatrics, the agency said.

”Together, they will provide medical oversight, help advance clinical care standards, support ongoing training for EMS personnel, and work collaboratively with leadership to enhance patient care outcomes throughout the community,” Ross/West View EMS said in announcing their appointments in February.

Nawrocki is a board-certified emergency medicine physician based in Pittsburgh, with extensive expertise in emergency medical services and prehospital care.

He currently serves as EMS medical director at Allegheny General Hospital and as associate medical director for the Allegheny Health Network LifeFlight and Critical Care Transport program, where he provides clinical oversight, develops protocols and supports quality improvement initiatives in emergency and critical prehospital care.

He also contributes to EMS education as core faculty for emergency medicine residency and EMS fellowship training programs.

Cercone, who began her career as an EMT in the Pittsburgh area, is a board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physician specializing in the care of infants, children and adolescents. She currently practices pediatric emergency medicine at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where she provides clinical care and is involved in pediatric emergency and prehospital medicine initiatives.

Cercone received her medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine, completed her pediatric residency at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, and completed fellowship training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

She has a strong background in pediatric emergency care and has been actively involved in improving pediatric prehospital readiness and education.
