Height – 6-foot-1
Position – Guard
#Earned – There were some people who thought it might not be a beautiful day in the neighborhood this winter with all of the talent the 2025 Class A champions lost to graduation.
But they weren’t counting on the growth of the game and the leadership of junior guard Kedron Gilmore, who this year has truly become a Pro Ked for the Bulldogs.
During the regular season, Gilmore averaged over 24 points per game as Neighborhood Academy won the Section 2-A title by four games and finished 18-3 with losses coming against 5A opponents Penn Hills and Kiski Area along with WPIAL 2A champion Sewickley Academy.
Bulldogs coach Jordan Marks was just as impressed with the maturation of Gilmore the person, who even though he’s in 11th grade, became one of the leaders of this Neighborhood Academy squad.
In the WPIAL playoffs, Gilmore scored 24 points in a quarterfinal victory over Summit Academy, dropped 17 points in a semifinal win over Monessen and, finally, scored 24 points, had seven rebounds, two assists and five steals in leading Neighborhood Academy past Serra Catholic, 60-48, for the school’s second straight district title.
Gilmore has been even more impressive in the PIAA playoffs, scoring 75 points in the Bulldogs’ three wins.
“Ked” as he is nicknamed, scored 24 points in a first round victory over St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy, then on Tuesday, dropped 27 points in the Bulldogs’ 14-point triumph over Johnsonburg. And finally in TNA’s quarterfinal win over Conestoga Christian, the explosive guard scored 24 points.
On Monday, Neighborhood Academy faces District 9 champion Elk County Catholic at PennWest-Clarion at 7 p.m.
Gilmore and the Bulldogs are two wins away from repeating as PIAA Class A champions.
If they are able to win double-gold for a second straight year, they will join Lincoln Park (2023 and 2024), Imani Christian (2023 and 2024) and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (2021 and 2022) as WPIAL teams to repeat as PIAA champions.
