The WPIAL boys volleyball season has commenced with tournament play on opening weekend and matches being held this week at gyms across Western Pennsylvania.

After opening weekend, there was little movement in the Western PA Volleyball Coaches Association polls for Class 3A and 2A.

North Allegheny remained atop the Class 3A poll, with Butler making a rise three spots to No. 3. Upper St. Clair also joined the poll at No. 8.

In Class 2A, Shaler stays at No. 1, and No. 7 Derry, No. 8 Deer Lakes and No. 9 Hopewell all moved up a spot.

Upper St. Clair’s Beckett Cummins and Montour’s Ben Slifkey were named the players of the week.
