The Pittsburgh Pirates made another round of cuts, and infielder Enmanuel Valdez was the latest casualty.

Valdez was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday morning, while outfielder Dominic Fletcher was reassigned to minor league camp.

The 27-year-old Valdez played 31 games for the Pirates last season, batting .209/.294/.363 with four doubles, two triples, two home runs and 12 RBIs before dislocating his left shoulder sliding head-first into third base in May. The injury required season-ending surgery.

Valdez was batting .077 (2 for 26) in 12 Grapefruit League games this spring, with eight strikeouts against five walks.

Fletcher, signed to a minor league contract, received a non-roster invite to spring training after spending last season in the Chicago White Sox organization. Fletcher batted .258/.343/.387 with one double, one homer and two RBIs in 14 games this spring.

The Pirates now have 44 players (43 active) in big league camp.
