Neighborhood Academy has earned the right to defend its PIAA Class A boys basketball title.

Kedron Gilmore scored 15 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, to lead the Bulldogs to a 46-37 victory over District 9 champion Elk County Catholic in the semifinals Monday night.

Neighborhood Academy (25-3) will face the winner of Tuesday’s semifinal between High Point Baptist and Sankofa-Freedom in the championship game at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Giant Center in Hershey.

Trey McMurray scored 11 points and D’Andre Green had 10 for the Bulldogs, who took control with a 13-4 run in the second quarter. Chase Simbeck led Elk County Catholic (27-3) with 24 points.

Baseball

Cheshire Academy 6, Elizabeth Forward 1 – Owen Widger homered and drove in three runs to lead Cheshire Academy in Orlando, Fla. Josh Johnson homered and JB Crovak doubled for Elizabeth Forward (2-2).

South Fayette 9, Rock Canyon 8 – Bennett Scheel hit a walk-off RBI single to lead South Fayette (3-1) in St. Petersburg, Fla. Cody Bungert doubled and drove in two runs and RJ Borgesi had two hits and three RBIs for the Lions.

St. Petersburg 4, South Fayette 0 – Leo Smith threw a three-hit shutout and went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI to lead St. Petersburg. RJ Borgesi had two hits and Brad Bauman had the other for South Fayette (3-1).

Softball

New Brighton 15, Rochester 0 – Faith Farrow singled, doubled and drove in four runs and Kyle Kwidis had a double and two RBIs to lead New Brighton (2-0) to a nonsection win. Madison Zajac had a base hit for Rochester (0-1).

Pingry School 15, Franklin Regional 8 – Lilliana Pereira had three hits and two RBIs to lead Pingry School to a 15-8 softball victory over Franklin Regional at the Ripken Experience in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Grace Stark went 3 for 3 with a triple, home run and two RBIs, Celina Camacho went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI and Mia Martz tripled and drove in a run for Franklin Regional (0-2).

Valley 11, Leechburg 6 – Kaleigh Mator doubled and drove in a pair of runs as Valley defeated Leechburg in a nonsection game before the snow fell. Summer Machen and Kylee Quinn each had two hits and an RBI for the Vikings (1-0). Lillian Walters doubled and Brooke Cuffia had two hits and two RBIs for Leechburg (0-1).

Flag football

North Catholic 59, Mars 36 – Simone Sharpless scored six touchdowns, five rushing and one receiving, to lead North Catholic past Mars. Lizzie Fabian scored three touchdowns and Gabby Valentine threw two TD passes for North Catholic.

Girls lacrosse

Plum 7, Indiana 5 – Carly Venanzi had two goals and an assist and Jadyn Dupal also scored twice to lead Plum (2-0) to a nonsection victory. Ella Pedley had a goal and an assist and Natalie Wagner and Brooke Price also scored for the Mustangs.

Oakland Catholic 12, Winchester Thurston 3 – Tilly Conner and Maggie Friday scored four goals apiece and Claire Elder dished out three assists to lead Oakland Catholic (1-0, 1-0) to a Section 1-2A victory.

Boys volleyball

Keystone Oaks 3, Beashear 0 – Brody Fingers had five kills to lead Keystone Oaks (1-0) to a nonsection victory.
