Man arrested after PRT bus shooting

An 18-year-old man was arrested Monday in connection with a weekend shooting on a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus, authorities said.

Michael Andrews of Pittsburgh is accused of shooting someone inside a P1 bus near Homewood Station along the East Busway, according to a post from the PRT police.

The incident happened at just about 5 p.m. Saturday.

Andrews faces charges of aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, reckless endangerment, and being a person not to possess firearms.

The victim, who is a juvenile, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable.

PRT police thanked detectives, officers and members of the public who helped bring the quick arrest.

Andrews is in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting his preliminary hearing scheduled for March 24.


Tree damages house in Penn Hills

Heavy wind toppled a tree onto a Penn Hills house Monday.

The incident happened along Poketa Road.

No injuries were reported, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

The tree broke a window in the front of the home and damaged a gutter.
