Green was the color of choice during Shamrocks and Shenanigans, the March 16 St. Patrick’s Day event at Provincial Bethel Park.

Residents of the senior-living community joined visitors in celebrating Lá Fhéile Pádraig by enjoying festive beverages and chef-prepared favorites for the occasion such as Guinness stew, shepherd’s pie and Bailey’s Irish cream cake.

Highlighting the event were performances by students of Shovlin Academy of Irish Dance – or Scoil Rince na Tri Abhainn, “Dance School of the Three Rivers” – as instructed by Sheila Shovlin and Elizabeth Shovlin Grinko, part of a family whose members have been central to the introduction and development of Irish dance in Western Pennsylvania since the late 1960s.

Tours of Provincial Bethel Park were available for guests to view all aspects of the spacious facility off Bethel Church Road.

“We want our community to be a place where residents continue celebrating traditions, staying socially connected and welcoming the broader community in,” executive director Scott Herwitt said. “Events like this remind people that senior living communities are engaging places where traditions and friendships continue to grow.”
