Homewood South shooting
A man was shot in the stomach early Wednesday in Pittsburgh’s Homewood South neighborhood, authorities said.
Crews responded at about 12:45 a.m. to the 7200 block of Kelly Street for a ShotSpotter alert totaling four rounds, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials.
Officers found a man in a nearby parking lot with a single gunshot wound.
Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS paramedics administered a whole blood transfusion on-site and took the man to the hospital in stable condition.
Two shell casings were recovered. The investigation is ongoing.
Suspected dog-fighting ring in Beaver
Two people face charges in connection with a suspected dog-fighting ring in Beaver County.
Ronald Kidder and Terry Decarlos are accused of multiple counts of animal cruelty and neglect after 23 dogs were seized from an Aliquippa property, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
The dogs were taken Jan. 25 and are being cared for by the Humane Society of Beaver County. The animals will be put up for adoption when ready.
Warrants have been issued for Kidder and Decarlos, according to court documents.
Apparent gun spurs investigation at PPS
Pittsburgh Public Schools officials investigated a Safe to Say report about a student with a gun at an elementary school on Monday.
The incident happened at Pittsburgh Langley K-8 in the city’s Sheraden neighborhood. The online report said a student displayed what appeared to be a firearm inside the school building, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
The investigation revealed that the weapon was a BB gun.
The district said in release that “the safety of our students is our top priority, and appropriate steps were taken to investigate and address this situation.”
Man charged with lewd behavior
Pittsburgh police have charged a man with exposing himself at Riverview Park, in the city’s Perry North neighborhood.
Jonah Roby, 33, faces four counts each of indecent exposure and open lewdness, and two counts of stalking, according to court documents.
The charges stem from incidents Tuesday at the park.
Roby is awaiting a preliminary hearing on all counts.
