Delmont tax payments
Delmont residents are now able to drop off tax payments to the borough office at 77 Greensburg St.
Payments can be dropped off on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There also will be a drop box outside the borough building where residents can drop off tax payments at any time.
Bingo to benefit Meals on Wheels
The Italian American Club in Export will host a bingo event from noon to 4 p.m. April 11 to benefit Murrysville Meals on Wheels.
The event will be held at the club, 5930 Kennedy Ave. Tickets are $30 and include lunch.

Chili cook-off
The Delmont Recreation Committee will host its annual chili cook-off at noon, March 22 at Yellow Bridge Brewery. Prizes will be awarded to the top three chili recipes.

Veterans’ luncheon
The Norwin Elks will recognize veterans at an April 8 luncheon in observance of the National Vietnam War Veterans Act, which designates March 29 as Vietnam War Veterans Memorial Day. The April 8 luncheon will be at the Norwin Elks, 135 Elks Lane in Manor. Doors open at 11 a.m. with the luncheon following an 11:45 a.m. ceremony.
Space is limited to the first 130 veterans, caregivers and family members who register by calling 724-590-1617. Reservations are requested by March 25. There is no cost for veterans or caregivers. A $5 donation is requested of family members and guests.
Cognitive health through nutrition discussion
The Mother of Sorrows Church “Boomers & Beyond” speaker series will feature registered dietitian Dianne Staso on April 14.
Staso will discuss the latest research about diet, brain health and foods that can enhance memory, clarity and focus.
It will be at noon in the church’s social hall, 4202 Old William Penn Highway in Murrysville. Attendees are encouraged to bring a bag lunch and a friend. Beverages are provided.
Murrysville Woman’s Club spring event
Tickets are on sale for the Murrysville Woman’s Club annual spring event to benefit the organization’s community projects.
The event begins at 10 a.m. March 28 at the Lamplighter, 6566 Route 22, Salem. The program features Elvis and Johnny Cash performer Lee Dean, a breakfast buffet and a basket raffle.

Easter events
• The Murrysville Recreation Department is accepting sign-ups for its “Egg My Yard” program, where recreation staff and volunteers will visit your home to hide candy-stuffed eggs in the front yard. “Egging” will take place March 30. • An Easter egg hunt for children ages 4 and under will take place at 1 p.m. March 27 at Sardis Park. The Murrysville Community Library will host a story time for children, photos with the Easter bunny and yellow Peep, take-home crafts and a special treat for all participants. Chess tournaments
Local libraries will host regional youth chess tournaments in the coming weeks.
In Delmont, it will be at 9 a.m. March 28 in the library at 75 School St.; in Murrysville, it will be at 9:30 a.m. April 4 in the library at 4130 Sardis Road.
Each tournament has three divisions: junior (grade 4 and below), intermediate (grades 5 to 8) and senior (grades 9 to 12).

Woman’s club scholarships
The Murrysville Woman’s Club is accepting applications for its annual nontraditional scholarship program. A minimum of three $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to women seeking to further their education.
Applicants must be Westmoreland County residents, 21 years or older, and must demonstrate financial need. They must be currently enrolled in college or able to provide proof of enrollment.
Applications are available at Seton Hill University, Westmoreland County Community College’s Hempfield and Murrysville campuses, the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, and at libraries in Murrysville, Delmont, Greensburg and New Kensington.

FR Student Visionaries fundraiser
The Franklin Regional Panthers Against Cancer Club will host a concert by a trio of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra musicians on March 22 at Iron City Distilling, 150 Ferry St. in Creighton.

School board meeting changes
The Franklin Regional school board has changed its meeting dates for the next few months.
Monthly combined committee of the whole and voting meetings will be held March 23 and April 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Murrysville municipal building, 4100 Sardis Road.

Red Cross seeks blood donors, volunteers
During Red Cross Month, the American Red Cross urges donors to help the national blood supply recover following a severe shortage and empower their health by making an appointment to give blood or platelets. Donors of all blood types remain critical to keeping momentum up and the blood supply steady headed into spring.
The Red Cross will perform free A1C testing on successful blood, platelet and plasma donations made through March 31, one result per calendar year. Donors also will receive a $15 Amazon gift card by email. Details can be found at redcrossblood.org/march. The American Red Cross supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood. State police academy applications open
The Pennsylvania State Police is now accepting applications for its 2026 Law and Leadership Academy – Southwest Location. The application period runs through May 1.
The free program is designed for residents or students in Southwest Pennsylvania, ages 18 and older, who have a high school diploma or GED and are seeking a career in law enforcement. Modeled after professional police academies, the curriculum includes instruction on criminal investigations, traffic laws and police resources, alongside paramilitary training in physical fitness, swimming and marching.
The academy runs from May 11 through Aug. 5. Classes are held:
• Mondays: 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• Wednesdays: 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
• Saturdays: Two dates (tentative)
The program aims to foster self-discipline and teamwork while giving participants a firsthand look at the cadet experience.

The AARP Foundation will host several sessions for its annual tax preparation program in Murrysville.
