Trent Rozich had a senior season to remember at Pitt-Greensburg.
The bulky, 6-foot-6 forward led the Bobcats in points (16.6), rebounds (5.6) and assists (4.3) per game.
He was named to the D3Hoops.com All-Region Second Team.
This weekend, the AMCC Player of the Year and All-AMCC first team selection will take his place among the top seniors in NCAA Division III basketball.
Rozich will play in the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-Star game. He will suit up for Team Raleigh against Team Cunningham at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The teams are named after the coaches — Bill Raleigh (Southwestern) and Pat Cunningham (Trinity).
Palangio goes dancing
Former Norwin standout basketball player Lauren Palangio made it to the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament with Holy Family.
The sophomore forward had played in 29 games, with one start, and was averaging 6.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in 18.3 minutes a game for the Panthers.
Holy Family won the East Regional Tournament with a 78-62 win over Daimen in the regional final as Palangio had nine points and six rebounds in 18 minutes.
The Panthers (30-4), who won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular-season title with a 20-0 record, are primed to take on Atlantic Region champion IUP (29-3) at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
Holy Family is the first CACC team to win the East Regional.
Dzurica an All-American
Saint Vincent senior Jacob Dzurica, a Hempfield graduate, earned All-America recognition for the second year in a row — the first in program history to accomplish the feat — at the NCAA Division III Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.
He placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 19.79 seconds, improving on his eighth-place finish from last year’s championships.
This year, he swam a 19.73 in a preliminary race to take fourth and qualify for the finals.
Only Dzurica, Jacob Davis and Zach Baum have earned All-America status as Bearcats swimmers.
Dzurica still had two events to compete in, the 100-yard backstroke on Friday and 100-yard freestyle on Saturday.
