HERSHEY – Neshannock made its run in the third quarter, but couldn’t quite get back all the way in Thursday’s Class 2A PIAA girls basketball title game against defending champion Berlin Brothersvalley.

Sam Walker led four Mountaineers players in double figures with 16 points, as Berlin Brothersvalley defeated the WPIAL champion Lancers, 55-39, at Giant Center.

Neshannock never recovered from a shaky shooting performance, opening the game 1 for 11 in the first quarter and 4 for 25 in the first half.

The win gave the Mountaineers their third PIAA title since 2019.

Peyton Newman had 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Lancers, who finished the season 26-4 overall.
