Sen. John Fetterman has taken yet another jab at his colleagues, saying on a podcast that Trump Derangement Syndrome controls a leaderless Democratic Party.
During an appearance on the “All-In” podcast, host David Friedberg asked Fetterman to name the leader of the Democratic Party and the senator replied, “We don’t have one,” before adding that “TDS” is the party’s guiding principle.
“Our party is governed by the TDS,” said Fetterman, according to Fox News.
TDS is derisively used by Trump supporters to dismiss his opponents.
After moving to other topics, Fetterman returned to TDS, saying that Trump “could come out for ice cream and lazy Sundays and now, suddenly, Democrats would hate it. We would want to vote it down.”
While he voted against Trump’s One, Big, Beautiful bill and opposes the SAVE America Act to tighten voting requirements, Fetterman has backed Trump nominees such as former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, before he called for her firing in January, and Attorney General Pam Bondi, and been an unwavering supporter of Trump’s war on Iran, voting against a war powers resolution limiting the president’s authority.
On Thursday, Fetterman was the deciding vote to advance Sen. Markwaye Mullin’s nomination to be the new Homeland Security secretary out of committee.
Fetterman’s TDS comments came after he appeared on Fox News host Sean Hannity’s podcast.
“Whenever there’s an opportunity, I’m always going to pick what’s the right thing for the country — (regardless of) whatever the party demands,” Fetterman told Hannity.
