Shooting in Homewood South

Two people were shot early Friday in Homewood South, authorities said.

Police were called at about 4:45 a.m. to the intersection of Tioga and Rosedale streets for a 10- and 21-round ShotSpotter alert, according to public safety officials.

Officers found a man and woman inside a vehicle, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

They were taken to the hospital where they were listed in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.


Shooting in Larimer

A man is recovering after being shot Thursday in Pittsburgh’s Larimer section, authorities said.

Police were called at about 9:45 p.m. to the 200 block of Larimer Avenue but found no one at the scene. Public safety officials said the victim was taken by private means to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

One shell casing was recovered on the front porch. The investigation continues.


White Oak fire

No injuries were reported after a house fire Thursday in White Oak.

Crews responded just after 1 a.m. to Tangleview Drive for a working fire, according to a Facebook post by the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department Station 299.

Flames extended through the attic, according to the post.

Firefighters worked three hours to knock down the fire.


Pitt police investigate robbery

The University of Pittsburgh Police are investigating after the report of a robbery at about 5:40 p.m. Thursday in the 3900 block of Forbes Avenue.

A male victim told police that a man approached him, saying he had a gun, and took the victim’s necklaces.

No weapon was shown.

No one was reported to be injured, police said.

The suspect was described as a heavy-set older man wearing a black jacket/shirt and a blue and white covid-style mask. He ran down Forbes Avenue after the incident, police said.

Fayette County teacher charged

A Fayette County teacher is accused of asking a student to kiss him inside his classroom.

Martin Gatti faces charges of intercourse/sexual contact with a student at a school, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

The Laurel Highlands High School student told police that the incident happened in January.

According to a criminal complaint, the victim told police she did not have class with Gatti but went because he was a teacher.

Gatti allegedly asked the student multiple times to give him a kiss and told her to close the door of his classroom, according to the complaint.

The report states the victim gave an audio recording of the conversation to police.


Student found with box cutter

Police are investigating after a Chartiers Valley School District student was found Thursday with a box cutter, the district said in a letter to parents.

The incident happened in the morning at the Intermediate School.

“Our administrators and security team responded immediately, secured the item and ensured the situation was handled quickly and safely,” the letter said.

Students caught with weapons at school face disciplinary actions, according to the district.
