Bria Bosiljevac threw a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts as Shaler defeated Hempfield, 2-1, in a nonsection softball matchup between last year’s Class 5A and Class 6A WPIAL champions Saturday.

Alyssa Schaffold went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI for Shaler (2-0), accounting for three of the game’s four hits. Ellie Nickel had the other. Claire Mitchell reached on an error, stole a base and scored on an error in the seventh inning for Hempfield (2-1). Jade Varhola struck out eight in six innings for the Spartans.

Allentown (NJ) 3, Carmichaels 2 – Katelyn Franckoviak singled and scored on an error in the bottom of the seventh for Allentown in Orlando, Fla. Carys McConnell singled and drove in a run for Carmichaels (1-1).

Baldwin 6, Walsh Jesuit 1 – Jordan Gerendash had a home run and four RBIs as Baldwin (2-1) defeated Walsh Jesuit in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Melina DeFelice recorded the complete-game win, striking out two and allowing six hits.

Bentworth 10, Howland 1 – Sydney Gonglik threw a complete-game three-hitter, giving up one run and striking out 16, to lead Bentworth (4-0) in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Hailey Tatar singled, doubled and drove in a run, Sofia Gaussa had a single, triple and an RBI and Addison McVicker doubled and tripled for the Bearcats.

Connellsville 12, Belle Vernon 11 – In nonsection play, Addison Lloyd and Molly Greenwalt drove in three runs each as Connellsville (2-1) beat Belle Vernon (1-1) in eight innings. Cali Leichliter homered, drove in two runs and walked three times for Connellsville. Ava Jones tripled, homered and drove in three for Belle Vernon.

Frazier 5, Serra Catholic 4 – Morgan Fisher hit a walk-off RBI single in the eighth to lead Frazier (1-1) to a nonsection win. Addison Hiles went 3 for 4 with an RBI, Emme Travalena tripled and drove in a run and Grace Polkabla singled and doubled for the Commodores. Arionna Major went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs for Serra Catholic (1-2). Hiles struck out 11 for Frazier and Kelly Morrissey fanned 13 for Serra.

Kiski Area 9, Peters Township 4 – Alyssa Perona went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and Lili Arabia singled, tripled and plated two runs to lead Kiski Area (3-1) in Myrtle Beach. Dakota Rainey doubled and drove in two runs, Kyleigh Rainey had a double and an RBI and Kaylee Morrow singled, tripled and knocked in a run for the Cavaliers. Lucy Wicker doubled twice and drove in a pair for Peters Township (1-2).

Plum 10, Franklin Regional 0 – In a nonsection game, Mackenzie Marotta tossed a six-inning shutout and had a solo home run as Plum (2-0) defeated Franklin Regional (0-5). Lily DeLuca doubled, homered and drove in four runs.

Seneca Valley 5, Armstrong 3 – Paige Volz doubled home two runs and Hannah Homick hit a solo home run as Seneca Valley (2-0) beat Armstrong (0-2) in nonsection play. Sophia Shumaker went 3 for 4 with a double for Armstrong.

Shenango 16, Wilmington 5 – Brianna Aluisa went 5 for 5 with a double, two home runs and six RBIs to lead Shenango (3-0) to the nonsection win against Wilmington in a six-inning nonsection game. Aluisa also earned the pitching win, striking out 11. Sydney Byerly went 4 for 5 and scored four runs, Addison Downing went 3 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs and Emma Herb went 3 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs. Avery Harlan homered twice and drove in three runs for Wilmington while Kallin Sikorski had a two-run home run.

Southeastern 13, Jefferson-Morgan 3 – Gracie Brown doubled, tripled and scored three runs to lead Southeastern in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Ava Wood singled, tripled and drove in a run for Jefferson-Morgan (2-1).

South Park 4, Thomas Jefferson 1 – Sydney Sekely gave up two hits and struck out 10 in a complete game nonsection win over Thomas Jefferson (2-1). Emma Hays drove in two runs for South Park (2-0).

West Mifflin 4, Keystone Oaks 3 – Brianna Wills singled home Kayleigh Tatters in the top of the 10th as West Mifflin (3-0) beat Keystone Oaks (0-1) in a nonsection game. Rylie Dobnak struck out 11 over seven innings and homered at the plate while Annaberlle Graham pitched three innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win. Kennadi Smith took the loss for Keystone Oaks, striking out eight and giving up two earned runs over 9⅓ innings while driving in two at the plate.

Atlantic Collegiate Academy 13, Trinity 3 – Coleman Strickland homered twice and drove in five runs to lead Atlantic Collegiate Academy in Myrtle Beach. Landon Conn doubled for Trinity (1-1).

Belle Vernon 16, Waynesburg 1 – Zach Plymire doubled twice and drove in two runs, Jack Edwards had a double and three RBIs and Connor Bergman knocked in four runs to lead Belle Vernon (1-0) to a nonsection win. Austin Surber doubled for Waynesburg (0-2).

Burgettstown 5, Clayton (TN) 1 – Caleb Matalik doubled and drove in a run and Blake Neal had two RBIs to lead Burgettstown (1-0) in Myrtle Beach. Matt Bredel struck out seven and allowed one run in four innings and Jayden Roach threw three innings of scoreless relief for the Blue Devils.

Derry 7, Forest Hills 4 – Parker Petrosky’s RBI single followed by Cason Long’s two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning gave Derry (2-1) the nonsection win over Forest Hills. Petrosky went 3 of 4 with an RBI while Long went 2 for 4 and drove in three runs and pitched four innings in relief to pick up the win, striking out eight.

Ellwood City 11, Union 1 – Jordan Keller doubled, homered and drove in four runs as Ellwood City (2-0) beat Union (0-1) in a five-inning nonsection game. Aaron Lake homered and drove in two runs while Geordan Bokor had three RBIs. Cameron Mills gave up two hits and struck out nine for the win.

Greene County Tech 5, Thomas Jefferson 3 – Derek Runyan singled, doubled and drove in two runs to lead Greene County Tech in Myrtle Beach. Josh Chalovich, Andy Brnusak and Eli Graff each singled and doubled for Thomas Jefferson (2-1).

Knoch 3, Butler 1 – Landon Harrison singled, doubled and drove in a run to lead Knoch (2-1) to a nonsection victory. Mason Heller allowed one run in four innings and Kaden Dreher pitched three scoreless innings of relief for the Knights. Ryan Rattigan doubled and Trent Best had two hits for Butler (1-1).

Montour 5, Silo 3 – Matteo Weber went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs as Montour (1-0) defeated Silo in a nonsection game in St. Petersburg, Fla. Michael Ivanoff picked up the win, giving up two unearned runs in four innings while striking out six. Caleb Armbruster went 2 for 2 with a double and a run scored for Montour.

New Castle 12, Boys Latin 3 – Alex Rodgers singled, doubled and drove in two runs and Dominic Filippone had three hits and two RBIs to lead New Castle (2-0) in Myrtle Beach.

North Catholic 13, Chartiers-Houston 0 – Peyton Varley and Landon Eifler combined on a no-hitter to lead North Catholic (1-0) to a nonsection win over Chartiers-Houston (1-2). Varley struck out two in four innings and Eifler fanned two more in the fifth. Landon Petok doubled twice and drove in five runs and Luca Guzowski went 4 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for the Trojans.

Norwin 6, Central Catholic 1 – Caden Sivrich tossed a complete game, striking out 14, as Norwin (2-0) beat Central Catholic (1-1) in a nonsection game. Tristyn Tavares had two hits and drove home two runs and Jake Knight and Derek Berger each had two hits and an RBI for the Knights. Chris Hazel had two hits for the Vikings.

Quaker Valley 7, OLSH 3 – Winning pitcher Todd Kagle singled, doubled and drove in two runs and Holden Kirkham had a double and an RBI for Quaker Valley (1-0) in a nonsection win. Angelo Ursida had two hits for OLSH (1-2).

St. Stephen and St. Agnes 20, Jefferson-Morgan 16 – Despite Braydel Ellsworth going 4 for 6 and driving in five runs, Jefferson-Morgan (0-2) fell to St. Stephen and St. Agnes in a nonsection game. Jefferson-Morgan had 15 hits while St. Stephen and St. Agnes smacked 21.

Seneca Valley 4, Hempfield 3 – Morgan Fisher hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh, scoring Alex Homick, to give Seneca Valley (3-0) the nonsection win against Hempfield (1-1). Danny Drennan doubled, tripled and scored twice for Seneca Valley. Ian Kovachik hit a two-run homer in the top of the first for Hempfield.

Shenango 12, Riverside 11 – Trey Ross hit a three-run triple in the bottom of the seventh to give Shenango (2-0) the nonsection win against Riverside (0-2), which had scored five in the top of the inning. Christian Anterock went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and A.J. Ferilla went 2 for 3 and drove in three runs. Alex Weisz had two hits and two RBIs for Riverside.

Trinity 8, Karns City 1 – In Myrtle Beach, Karson Hathaway homered and struck out seven over three innings on the mound as Trinity (1-0) beat Karns City. Landon Conn went 3 for 4 and Hathaway and Owen Samogala drove in two runs each.

University (WV) 12, Laurel Highlands 2 – Baret Shuba went 2 for 2 and scored three runs as University (WV) beat Laurel Highlands (0-2) in a six-inning nonsection game. Cage Senchur went 2 for 3 and drove in a run for Laurel Highlands.

Upper Moreland 5, Avonworth 4 – Jackson Townsend drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh to lift Upper Moreland to a walk-off win in Myrtle Beach. Carter Latone homered for Avonworth (0-1).

Washington 16, Bishop Canevin 11 – Isaac Charnik went 3 for 5 with three RBIs as Washington (1-1) scored 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to overcome a five-run deficit to defeat Bishop Canevin (0-1) in a nonsection game. Joseph Wilson and Jayden Hagan drove in three runs each for Washington while Caleb Patton scored four runs. Brady Wagner had two hits, two RBIs and scored three runs for the Crusaders.

Boys volleyball

North Allegheny tournament – The host Tigers went 10-1 on the day and defeated Manheim Township in the finals to win the North Allegheny tournament. Mt. Lebanon and Seton LaSalle also reached the semifinals.

Girls lacrosse

Pine-Richland 15, Medina (OH) 12 – Mallory Boivin collected seven goals and four assists, Cate Gentille finished with five goals and two assists, Claire Mill added three goals and an assist and Cara Murray made seven saves to lead Pine-Richland.
