Western Pennsylvania could see severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh reports.
“Large hail and damaging wind gusts are the primary threats, with the stronger storms potentially producing hail of golf ball size,” the NWS said, placing the risk level at slight (level 2 of 5). Tornadoes could develop as well.
TribLive news partner WTAE said the storms will start as early as 4 p.m. to the north of Pittsburgh and will continue through 10 p.m. The Pittsburgh area is expected to receive the storms between 5 and 6 p.m.
