The Pittsburgh Steelers are bolstering their special teams by signing running back Travis Homer.

The seven-year veteran previously played for the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears. ESPN and NFL Network reported Monday that Homer was signing with the Steelers.

The 27-year-old played more than 60% of his team’s special-teams snaps in each of the past three seasons with the Bears. The 5-foot-10, 211-pounder has 49 career special-teams tackles with 10 last season. His career totals include two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

He returned 18 kickoffs in four seasons with the Seahawks but handled only one while in Chicago.

As a running back, Homer has 90 career carries for 474 rushing yards. He added 475 receiving yards on 55 catches, but most of his offensive production came while in Seattle. Last season, his only touch on offense was a carry for minus-2 yards.

He entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick by Seattle in 2019.
