From awe-inspiring production design to emotional award-winning musicals to old favorites, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh 2026-27 season will be one for the ages.

The Trust revealed the new season in a video annucement Monday night, as well as a full slate of more than 50 other cultural events with more to be announced throughout the year.

“The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is proud to present another show-stopping PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh season,” said Kendra Whitlock Ingram, President & CEO of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, in a release. “We extend our sincerest thanks to PNC whose generous support ensures that the arts continue to positively impact our region.”

The touring productions in the PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh Series will be performed at the Benedum Center in Downtown Pittsburgh.

The new season kicks off with “Disney’s The Lion King” from Sept. 9 to 27. This jaw-dropping spectacular based on the Disney animated film is the third-longest-running Broadway show of all time, still on the stage after opening in November 1997. The spectacular show is returning to Pittsburgh for the first time in seven years.

Next up will be audience darling “Hadestown,” a bluesy, jazzy retelling of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. The show premiered on Broadway in 2019 and won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It will run as a season option from Oct. 27 to Nov. 1.

Nov. 10 to 15 will see the Pittsburgh tour premiere of “The Notebook.” Based on the 2004 romantic drama film, the musical came to Broadway in 2024.

Celebrating the holidays, “Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical” will come to town from Nov. 24 to 29 as another season option.

Another Pittsburgh tour premiere, “Maybe Happy Ending” will run from Dec. 29 through Jan. 3. The futuristic show originated in South Korea and won six Tony Awards in 2025, including Best Musical.

Going back to the classics, “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music” is coming from Jan. 19 to 24. Full to the brim with classic songs, this story of the Von Trapp family has inspired a multi-generational fanbase since its Broadway premiere in 1959.

“Beetlejuice The Musical” returns from Feb. 5 to 7, another Season Option. Based on the Tim Burton film starring Michael Keaton, this hilarious and poignant show has a dedicated fanbase and a catchy score.

Another movie-turned-musical is Pittsburgh tour premiere “Death Becomes Her,” which will run from Feb. 23 to 28. The cult classic film by Robert Zemeckis was released in 1992, and the musical stormed its way to Broadway in 2024.

Bringing the longest-running musical in Broadway history back to Pittsburgh, “Cameron Mackintosh presents Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera” will dazzle from next March 17 to 28.

“The Outsiders: A New Musical” is making its tour debut in Pittsburgh from April 27, 2027 to May 2, 2027. Based on the classic novel by S.E. Hinton and the beloved 1983 film, the stage production earned four Tony Awards in 2024, including Best Musical.

Wrapping up the season will be beloved rock opera “The Who’s Tommy” from May 18, 2027 to May 23, 2027, featuring a score by classic rock band The Who and including lasting hit song “Pinball Wizard.”

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust also announced their new FLEX Subscription, which will allow theatergoers to create their own lineup from a plethora of newly announced shows from the Pittsburgh Dance Council, the Dentons Cohen & Grigsby Trust Presents, Liberty Magic and other options.

The subscription will provide customers with bigger discounts as additional shows are purchased, and it will also offer presale access, select event access, dining discounts and more.
