Tuesday’s “First Call” shows us a potential position of interest for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the upcoming NFL Draft. A former Steeler is trying to prove he can still play. The Penguins are back at it against the NHL’s very best.

And there is news from the ice and the hardwood surrounding Robert Morris.

Looking at the linebackers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are scouting a few linebackers in advance of the NFL Draft.

NFL Draft analyst Ryan Fowler says that LSU linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. has visits scheduled with the Steelers and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Perkins Jr. is 6-foot-1, 223 pounds. He posted five career interceptions, eight forced fumbles, and 17 sacks over four years with the Tigers. He ran a 4.45 40-yard dash. ProFootballNetwork lists him as a fourth-round pick.

Meanwhile, Jake Golday was on the “Up and Adams” show. He told host Kay Adams that he met with Steelers coach Mike McCarthy at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Golday is 6-5, 239 pounds. ESPN rates him as the sixth-best player at the position and the 54th player overall.

Comeback trail

Former Steeler Najee Harris wants to find a new team.

The free-agent running back spent 2025 with the Los Angeles Chargers after playing his first four years in Pittsburgh. However, Harris injured an eye during a fireworks accident before the season began, then tore an Achilles tendon during his third game with the club.

Now his agent, Doug Hendrickson, is posting video of Harris running on a treadmill to show the progress his client is making.

The 28-year-old former first-rounder out of Alabama only got 15 carries under his belt with L.A. before the Achilles injury.

Pens’ playoff position

There was only one NHL game Monday night. Ottawa won at Madison Square Garden, beating the New York Rangers, 2-1.

Warren Foegele had the eventual game-winner for the Sens.

Via the Associated Press, the Rangers had just nine shots on goal, matching a franchise worst set Dec. 11, 1955, in a defeat at Detroit. That’s the fewest shots in a game by any NHL team since 2003. The Rangers’ loss was the club’s 25th in 34 home games this season.

The win gives Ottawa 83 points. The Senators are just two points back of the New York Islanders for the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Senators have now won eight of their last 10. They are in Detroit on Tuesday night, then they host the Penguins on Thursday.

As for the Penguins, they host Colorado on Tuesday after clubbing the Avalanche, 7-2, in Denver on March 16. The Avs come in with 102 points, best in the NHL. The Pens have 86 points, second in the Metropolitan Division, one better than Columbus and the New York Islanders.

The Isles host Chicago on Tuesday. Columbus is in Philadelphia.

Robert Morris morsels

Last year, the Robert Morris men’s basketball team had the Horizon League Player of the Year in Alvaro Folgueiras. But he went into the transfer portal after the season ended.

The same thing is happening this year. DeSean Goode is looking to move on after winning that award for the Colonials in 2026, according to On3Sports.

Folgueiras ended up at Iowa and just hit a game-winning shot for the Hawkeyes to upset the defending national champion Florida Gators on Sunday night in Round 2 of the NCAA Tournament.

RMU junior forward Nikos Chitikoudis also plans to enter the transfer portal. He totaled 11.7 points per game and over seven rebounds per contest as well.

On the hockey front, defenseman John Babcock made the Atlantic Hockey America All-Tournament team. Over six playoff games, Babcock put up one goal and three assists while registering 11 shots on goal. The freshman blocked 26 shots — an average of 4.3 per game — and finished the tournament with a plus-4 rating as RMU got to the semifinal round.

Senior defenseman Greg Japchen and forward Ryan Taylor also signed pro contracts after the Colonials’ season ended. Japchen agreed to a standard player contract with the Kalamazoo Wings, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks. Taylor inked a contract with the Utah Grizzlies, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche.
