Whether you love great music, seasonal activities with the kids, stretching your legs or just enjoying a nice cocktail over the weekend, Westmoreland’s got something for you. Here’s some events to check out:
Art in Bloom Free Day
Spring is gearing up, and The Westmoreland Museum of American Art is going all out with this year’s Art in Bloom. The exhibit started Wednesday and will run through Sunday, and it includes a score of floral designers creating displays inspired by art throughout the museum.
On Sunday, admission to the exhibit will be free to the public for the last day of “Art in Bloom.” In addition, attendees will get the chance to meet some of the designers, vote for the People’s Choice (which will be awarded during the day) and enjoy food and drink for purchase.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the museum, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg. To learn more, visit thewestmoreland.org.
The 10 Tenors
This talented vocal group from Australia is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with an electrifying world tour. With a mix of genres, perfect harmonies and mesmerizing stage presence, you won’t want to miss this show at The Palace Theatre.
They’ll mix together classical standards and classic rock with brand-new medleys that will get the crowd on their feet and cheering. The show will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at The Palace, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg. Tickets range from $29.75 to $89.75. To get yours, visit westmorelandculturaltrust.org.
SAMA Easter Egg Hunt
Easter is next weekend, so this is the perfect time to take the kids out to hunt for Easter eggs. The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Ligonier will be holding their hunt this Saturday.
The event will take place in the museum’s gardens. But even before the kids rush to spot brightly colored eggs, the day will kick off with face painting and other activities. There will be live animals from Living Treasures and toys, treats and take-home art kits as prizes for the hunt. And don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for the Easter Bunny.
The event is free, but registration is required. The museum also requests participating families bring a canned food donation for the Ligonier Food Pantry. The event will be held at 1 p.m. at the museum, Boucher Lane, Ligonier. To learn more and register, visit sama-art.org.
Bob Seger tribute
Turn the page on your work week and head to the Lamp Theatre in Irwin for this night of tunes from Bob Seger tribute act Hollywood Nights. From heartbreaking ballads to heart-pounding, foot-stomping rock anthems, this group is keeping the legacy of Seger alive.
With authentic instrumentation and goosebumps-inducing vocals, the crowd will cheer for hits including “Old Time Rock n Roll,” “Against the Wind,” “We’ve Got Tonight” and many more.
The show will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at the Lamp, 222 Main St., Irwin. Tickets are $39 each. To get yours, visit lamptheatre.org.
March for Parks
Get ready for a morning of fun Saturday with Westmoreland County Parks. The event will include a march or walk around Twin Lakes Park, a pig roast, live entertainment, raffles and more. The event was established to raise money for ongoing Westmoreland County Parks projects, which will include finishing the Westmoreland Heritage Trail, land acquisition and regional improvements.
Those who donate $30 or more before Saturday will receive an event T-shirt, kids’ prize or pet bandana. The donation threshold rises to $40 for same-day registration. The event will be held at the Activity Center at the park, east of Greensburg. The march begins at 11 a.m. To learn more and donate, visit westmoreland countypa.gov.
