Top prize-winning lottery ticket sold at UPMC hospital
A $1.5 million dollar Cash Spectacular scratch-off was sold at UPMC Magee-Women’s Hospital in South Oakland, according to the Pennsylvania Lottery.
The hospital will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket, according to the lottery.
Cash Spectacular scratch-offs are $30, with a top prize of $1.5 million. Scratch-0ffs are randomly distributed, meaning the lottery doesn’t know where winning tickets will be sold until after prizes have been claimed.
A $1 million winning scratch-off was sold at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh’s Bluff neighborhood in May 2021.
North Park road to close for race Saturday
A section of Pearce Mill Road in North Park will close between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. Saturday for the annual Sean T. Smith Memorial “Just a Short Run.”
This is the 26th year for the race — which includes 5K, 8-mile, half marathon and 30K options. Pearce Mill Road will be closed between its intersections with Route 910 and Brown Road during the race, according to the Northern Regional Police Department.
The race is held in memory of Sean T. Smith, who died from leukemia in 1995. The event generates funds for cancer charities each year. Cancer Bridges, a cancer support nonprofit based in Pittsburgh’s Strip District, is this year’s benefactor.
