Dylan Barrett’s goal was to win a PIAA wrestling title.
He came up a little short, but he finished fourth, his best result at the state tournament. He went 5-2 and finished his senior year 34-11 and his career with a 140-43 record.
He finished seventh in 2025.
Now he’s off to wrestle at Clarion.
Barrett’s plan when he decided to drop from the 121-pound weight class to 114 in late January was to win the state title. He knew trying to defeat Norwin junior Landon Sidun, the No. 1 121-pounder in the country, was almost impossible.
He was the section champion, fourth at the WPIAL tournament and third in the PIAA West Regional.
Barrett dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 decision to PIAA runner-up Gabe Benyo of Hazleton at states.
He then ran off five consecutive victories, including wins against Trinity’s Jackson Hoy and Thomas Jefferson’s Zach Rehak.
He lost the third-place match to Council Rock South junior John Segata.
Senior Cael Ott, meanwhile, went 2-2 in Hershey, falling in the blood round.
Ott finished 22-9 for the season and 47-35 in his career.
Senior Logan Matrisch finished his career with a record of 101-65. He qualified for the PIAA West Regional by finishing sixth in the WPIAL tournament, but an injury prevented him from competing.
