While I worked on the Conor Lamb campaign in the 2022 Democratic primaries, I was proud to cast my vote for John Fetterman in the general election. He postured himself as a courageous and pragmatic progressive who would provide a breath of fresh air for the Democratic Party.

It is clear to me today that progressives were duped, and that Fetterman is the Democratic Party’s JD Vance: an inauthentic and egotistical grifter.

Much like our vice president, he portrayed himself as emblematic of the working man while simultaneously coasting along with all the privilege that Ivy League credentials and a national profile provide. He has been an unfettered disappointment for Pennsylvania in the Senate, enthusiastically backing costly and immoral foreign intervention, taking mounds of AIPAC money and cozying up to the administration’s hardline stance on immigration. His recent vote to advance Sen. Markwayne Mullin’s confirmation for secretary of the Department of Homeland Security is just another slight in a long four-year line of betrayals.

It is my sincere hope that Pennsylvania Democrats put full force into the 2028 primaries to remove Fetterman and that we are granted a far better senator to represent our commonwealth.
