Talk about Deja vu.
The 2025 Terrific Ten girls basketball team was made up of six juniors and four seniors.
All six players who made the Trib HSSN team as 11th graders repeated their excellence on the court as 12th graders and are back on the team in 2026.
Here is a big time tip of the cap to this year’s Terrific 10 squad made up of all seniors.
Terrific 10
Madison Clair
Canon-McMillan
5-10, senior, guard/forward
Madison Clair was the driving force behind the most successful season in Canon-McMillan girls basketball history. During the regular season, Clair averaged over 15 points per game in leading the Big Macs to a Section 2-6A title. In the WPIAL playoffs, she scored a combined 30 points in the semifinals and title game win over Norwin. For the season, she averaged 5.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Clair will continue her basketball career at West Virginia Wesleyan.
Josie Fontana
Oakland Catholic
6-2, senior, forward
Josie and the Eagles wasn’t an early 2000’s movie about an all-female band, but they were once again the best female basketball team in WPIAL Class 4A and the runners-up in the PIAA. Oakland Catholic finished 25-3 in part becasue of the big season by senior Josie Fontana. She averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and over two blocks a game. For the season, she shot 49% from the field, 29% from the 3-point line and 69% from the free-throw line. Fontana is a Richmond commit.
Aubree Hupp
Blackhawk
5-10, senior, forward
Aubree Hupp and her Blackhawk teammates are experts on silver, having collected four straight WPIAL runner-up trophies and one other in the states (along with one PIAA crown). Hupp capped off a tremendous career this season with 595 points, shooting 195 of 339 from the field and 17 of 45 on 3-pointers. She was 154 of 191 from the free- throw line. On the glass, she broke her own school record with 386 rebounds, putting her over 1,000 for her career. Hupp will play her college ball at Canisius.
Erica Gribble
Greensburg Central Catholic
5-10, senior, guard
While their string of consecutive WPIAL championships ended at two this season, the gold rush continued for Greensburg Central Catholic players with a season-ending PIAA crown. The driving force behind the Centurions’ title streak is senior Erica Gribble, who scored 666 points this season on 162-of-285 shooting from the field for an average of 21.5 points per game. She added 90 assists and 138 rebounds and ended her career with 2,380 points and 296 3-pointers. Gribble is a Richmond commit.
Emma Larkin
Geibel Catholic
5-5, senior, guard
After losing in the first round in 2023 and 2024, then reaching the WPIAL semifinals last year, Geibel Catholic made it to The Pete this season, falling in the Class A finals in a heartbreaker to Serra Catholic. The tiny school in Fayette County says goodbye to big-time scorer Emma Larkin, who this year scored 632 points (24.3 points per game) and had 148 rebounds, 217 assists and 104 steals. For her career, Larkin had 2,541 points, 606 rebounds, 489 assists and 395 steals. She will play at Belmont Abbey.
Haylie Lamonde
South Fayette
5-8, senior, guard
The green machine at South Fayette churned out a lot of gold over the last four years with three district championships and two state crowns on the Lions’ mane. Senior guard Haylie Lamonde was a big part of that success. This winter, she scored 451 points and registered 84 rebounds, 62 assists and 58 steals. In the district Class 5A title game, she led the way with 19 points. For her career in the green and white, she scored 1,135 points. Lamonde will play her college basketball at Division I South Carolina-Upstate.
Payton Newman
Neshannock
5-9, senior, forward
Neshannock was back in the WPIAL champion’s circle for the first time since 2022 thanks to a dominant season by senior forward Payton Newman. Newman scored 576 points for an average of 19.2 points per game. In the WPIAL playoffs, she averaged 22.5 ppg, including 24 points in the Class 2A finals. She averaged 12.3 rebounds, 4.1 steals and 3.3 assists per game. She shot 51.7% from the field and 70.2% from the free-throw line. Newman will play basketball next season at Saint Vincent.
Maggie Spell
Thomas Jefferson
5-10, senior, guard
When junior guard Kaylee DeAngelo was lost before the season started with a knee injury, Maggie Spell picked up the slack and led the Jaguars to an outstanding season that included a spot in the WPIAL Class 5A finals. Spell averaged 18 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals a contest for TJ. She scored a combined 45 points in the Jaguars’ first two district playoff games and finished her career with 2,050 points. Spell will play college hoops at Division I Campbell.
Mimi Thiero
Quaker Valley
6-4, senior, guard/forward
Quaker Valley improved by four wins this season thanks to another outstanding campaign by Oumou “Mimi” Thiero. The Quakers’ star was the center of opponents’ attention, yet she still helped her team win 19 games. The senior capped off her incredible career by scoring 772 points this winter, putting her over 2,000 for her career. Thiero registered 424 rebounds and had 80 assists, 92 steals and 118 blocked shots this season. Thiero will continue her basketball career at Maryland.
Karis Thomas
Shady Side Academy
5-7, senior, guard
Senior guard Karis Thomas was the straw that stirred the successful drink for Shady Side Academy these last four years. This season, she hit on 169 of her 316 shots from the field, shooting 63.9% from 2-point range and 37.6% from 3-point range. Thomas was outstanding at the line, making 85 of 94 free throws (90.4%). She averaged 16.8 points per game and scored 21 points in the Bulldogs’ Class 3A title game. She finished her career as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 2,114 points. Thomas is a Purdue-Fort Wayne commit.
