In an unsurprising late Friday news dump, CBS confirmed it has canceled sophomore drama “Watson” and freshman comedy series “DMV.”
“Watson,” created by Pittsburgh native Craig Sweeny and set at a fictional Oakland hospital, got off to a strong ratings start in January 2025 but lost steam with a time slot change in fall 2025 at the start of its second season.
The series follows Dr. John Watson (Morris Chestnut) as he and his team investigate medical mysteries.
In a late February interview, Sweeny said the second season of “Watson” will conclude with “a fairly major cliffhanger” that now will never be resolved.
Following the cancellation, “Watson” star Rochelle Aytes, who plays Dr. Mary Watson, posted to social media, “I am saddened by the news of our cancellation, but we still have a handful of entertaining episodes for you!”
