Part of Mt. Royal Boulevard in Shaler was closed Tuesday afternoon after a woman was hit by a vehicle, according to township and county police.

The incident on Mt. Royal Boulevard at Scott Avenue was reported shortly before 12:30 p.m., an Allegheny County 911 dispatcher said.

According to Allegheny County Police, first responders found a woman in her 70s had been hit while crossing Mt. Royal. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The driver remained on the scene and was cooperating with investigators, county police said.

Mt. Royal Boulevard was closed between Scott Avenue and Arden Drive until about 4 p.m. while the incident was being investigated, Shaler police said.
