Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s reelection campaign said it raised more than $10 million during the first three months of the year — twice as much as the previous record for a gubernatorial campaign in the first quarter of an election year.
“This remarkably strong showing underscores the broad support for Gov. Shapiro’s leadership and his reelection campaign,” the campaign said in a news releases announcing the fundraising haul.
Shapiro’s campaign did not say how much money it spent during the first three months of the year. The campaign ended last year with more than $30 million in cash on hand, while his Republican opponent in this year’s race, state Treasurer Stacy Garrity, had about $1 million in available cash at the end of last year.
Garrity’s campaign has not publicly disclosed its fundraising or spending totals for the first quarter yet.
Campaigns have until next Tuesday to file their finance reports for the first quarter of the year.
A Susquehanna Polling and Research poll released this week shows Shapiro leading Garrity by 22 percentage points (58% to 36%) in this year’s race.
