One of the most prolific playmakers to come out of Belle Vernon is looking to cash in after a big season at IUP.
Devin Whitlock, a wide receiver who earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference first-team honors last season, has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to his representatives with The Business of Athletes.
He is looking to go from Division I, to Division II, back to Division I, with the hopes of landing in an NIL-friendly situation.
Whitlock (5-foot-8, 170 pounds) spent two years at Pitt was a preferred walk-on before joining IUP.
He set a single-season program record with 84 receptions. His 7.64 receptions per game ranked third in NCAA Division II.
Whitlock, who had 927 yards receiving and six touchdowns, also was named to the Conference Commissioner’s Association Super Region I All-Region Team.
Snyder in portal
Former Latrobe girls basketball standout Elle Snyder also put her name in the portal after two seasons at Division I Evansville.
The 5-9 forward this season averaged 3.8 points and 5.4 rebounds across 35 games.
She has started 38 of 51 career games, averaging 21.1 minutes.
Telegdy on watch list
Seton Hill sophomore softball pitcher Shelby Telegdy was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Pitcher of the Year Watch List.
She is one of 15 players from the Atlantic Region on the list. Eight are from the PSAC.
Telegdy, an Elizabeth Forward graduate, is 6-5 this season with a 2.09 ERA and is hitting .324 with 12 doubles, five home runs and 24 RBIs.
Benchmark season
Pitt-Greensburg had a men’s basketball season for the record books.
The Bobcats, who finished 22-6 (13-3 AMCC) and made the ECAC Tournament, posted the most wins in program history and finished fifth in the country in field-goal percentage (49.5) and sixth in 3-point percentage (37.9).
Knight transferring
Hempfield alum Brennan Knight is portal-bound after one football season at Cal (Pa.).
The redshirt freshman is a 5-10, 230-pound tight end.
