2 injured in domestic stabbing
Pittsburgh police, emergency medical services and firefighters were dispatched to the 300 block of Flowers Avenue in the city’s Hazelwood neighborhood at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in response to reports of a domestic altercation.
Upon arriving, officers found two women with minor stab wounds to their hands and forearms inside the residence, the police blotter said.
Both women were transported by Pittsburgh Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital in stable condition.
Witnesses told officers that the female relatives were in an argument prior to the stabbing taking place, the blotter said.
As of Monday morning no arrests had been made, but police said charges are expected.
Part of McClaren Road in Findlay closes for months
McClaren Road in Findlay will close between Sabre and Resurrection roads starting at 9 a.m. Monday, according to Allegheny County’s Department of Public Works.
The road’s partial closure is expected to last for more than five months while McClaren’s Run Bridge No. 7 is replaced.
The bridge carries an average of roughly 950 vehicles over McClaren’s Run a day.
It has a bridge condition rating of 4 (poor condition) on a 0-9 scale based on National Bridge Inspection Standards, which are established by the Federal Highway Administration.
Construction crews from A Merante Contracting Inc. in Baldwin Borough will replace the bridge as part of a $1.1 million project to improve the condition rating, county officials said.
Eastbound traffic will be detoured:
- From McClaren Road turn right onto the Interstate 376 East entrance ramp
- Take Exit 57 to I-376 West Business Loop
- Take the exit ramp to Ewing Road
- Turn left onto Ewing Road
- Turn right onto Resurrection Road from the roundabout
Westbound traffic will be detoured:
- From Resurrection Road, turn right onto the roundabout
- Turn right onto I-376 East Business Loop
- Turn right onto the I-376 West entrance ramp
- Take Exit 56 to McClaren Road
Parkway North HOV lane openings delayed
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 11 officials announced Monday morning that Parkway North (I-279) High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes at the Perrysville Avenue gate will be delayed in opening.
PennDOT spokeswoman Yasmeen Manyisha said the delays were because of “a gate issue” but did not provide a time as to when the issue would be resolved as of 6 a.m.
All other gates had opened on time Monday morning.
