GE Vernova, formerly a part of General Electric, spent $70 million to buy a distribution center in Rostraver last month, adding to the Massachusetts-based power generation equipment manufacturer’s strong Pennsylvania presence.

Westmoreland County property records show GE Vernova subsidiary GE Renewables Grid LLC purchased the more than 700,000-square-foot property from Gordon One LLC.

GE Vernova, which is headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., was created when General Electric split into three companies in 2024.

GE Vernova did not immediately return questions about its plans for the property along Finley Road known as Amcel Center Two. The company leased about 150,000 square feet in the building prior to buying it.

Gordon One LLC is connected to Amcel Center Properties, which still owns a warehouse in East Huntingdon.

Ray Sylvester, a facility manager at Amcel Center Properties, declined to comment.

About 10 minutes southwest of the Rostraver building, GE Vernova runs a factory in Speers that makes high voltage switchgear products to manage the flow of power on the electric grid.

In July, the company announced it’s adding 250 jobs at the plant and spending $100 million across multiple facilities in Pennsylvania over the next two years amid rising demand for energy.

GE Vernova is supplying seven natural gas turbines for the forthcoming 4.5-gigawatt power plant in Homer City, which will be primarily used to power on-site data centers. Construction is expected to wrap up in 2029.
