The three Seton Hill wrestlers who made the NCAA Division II Championships earned all-conference honors.
Redshirt senior Mike Zacur was named to the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference first team at 157 pounds, while senior Ty Linsenbigler (Hempfield) and senior Kane Kettering made the third team at 149 and 174.
Kettering went 1-2 at nationals, while Linsenbigler and Zacur were 0-2.
Pitt-Johnstown senior heavyweight Isaiah Vance (Hempfield) also made the third team.
Baseball
IUP: Senior outfielder Elijah Dunn (Norwin) reached 100 career hits when the Crimson Hawks were outslugged by Point Park, 20-16. Dunn hit three home runs during a four-game series against Seton Hill.
Saint Vincent: Freshman Garrett Brady went 2 for 3 with an RBI, sophomore Isiah Petty doubled and freshman Jack Murphy knocked in two runs as the Bearcats dumped Franciscan, 6-1. Junior Andrew Bell picked up his second win of the season as he scattered five hits and struck out six over seven innings.
Seton Hill: Senior Jack Whalen (Norwin) is tied for the PSAC lead in hits with 49 and leads the conference with 33 stolen bases in 44 attempts, while junior Jakob Haynes (Penn-Trafford) has the top spot in home runs with 12. Whalen is now the Griffins’ all-time leader in stolen bases with 133. Haynes recently achieved 100 career hits.
The Griffins (25-6, 12-0 PSAC) earned a four-game sweep against Lock Haven, outscoring the Bald Eagles, 41-6 in two games Saturday. Seton Hill moved up five spots to No. 16 in the latest NCBWA Division II Top 25 poll.
Westminster: Sophomore Ian Temple (Penn-Trafford) went 2 for 3 with a walk and a stolen base in a 2-1 win over Geneva.
Westmoreland County Community College: Freshman Jake Sincak (Norwin) had two hits, two runs and three RBIs, freshman Sean Franzi went 3 for 4 with two doubles and four RBIs, freshman Noah Matson (Kiski Area) tripled and drove in three, and freshman Jake Domkowski homered as the Wolfpack beat Potomac State, 14-4.
A 13-6 win followed in the second of the doubleheader as Sincak hit two homers, doubled and drove in five runs. Franzi and freshman Owen Dumbroski added two RBIs apiece, and Tyler Martin (Greensburg Salem) tripled for WCCC.
Softball
Cal (Pa.): Sophomore Amarah McCutcheon (Southmoreland) had two hits, two walks and a run scored in an 8-3 win over Gannon.
Point Park: Junior Emma Henry (Greensburg Central Catholic) hit her first career home run on a deep drive to left-center in an 8-7 loss to West Virginia Wesleyan. Henry, a Central Connecticut State transfer, is leading the team with a .329 batting average and has 11 RBIs, five doubles and 10 runs in 25 games. She also is pitching like she did in high school. Henry is 1-7 and has four complete games in 11 appearances.
Robert Morris: Redshirt senior Courtney Poulich (Mt. Pleasant) broke her own program record for runs in a season with her 46th. Poulich is on the brink of breaking two more records, which she also holds. She now has 16 home runs and 47 RBIs runs. She tied her single-season home run mark. Her RBI record is 53. RMU has hit a program-record 51 home runs this season.
South Florida: Freshman Toryn Fulton (Franklin Regional) belted her sixth home run of the season, drove in a career-high five home runs and extended her hitting streak to seven games as the Bulls (29-12, 11-4 American Conference) defeated Texas San Antonio, 5-1. Fulton was hitting .358 with 34 hits, 22 RBIs and 23 runs.
Westminster: Sophomore pitcher Cheyenne Piper (Ligonier Valley) gave up five hits, struck out six and walked two in a 3-2 eight-inning victory over Bethany.
Washington & Jefferson: Senior Hannah Allen (Penn-Trafford) went 2 for 4 in a 5-4 loss to Saint Vincent. Allen is hitting .393 in 20 games with 24 hits, 10 RBI and seven runs.
Women’s track & field
Duquesne: Freshman Melani Schmidt (Norwin) was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week. She posted her first wins at the college level, taking the 200-meter dash (25.0 seconds) and 400-meter dash (56.59) at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. She ran the opening leg of the second-place 400-meter relay (47.76). Her 400 time leads all A-10 freshmen and is fourth overall in the conference.
Duquesne junior Cydney Blahovec (Hempfield) helped the 3,200-meter relay to a victory at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational in Fairfax, Va. with a time of 9:05.21. The foursome won by more than 20 seconds.
Westminster: Sophomore Grace Iwig (Hempfield) tied for ninth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.55 meters, and was 14th in the high jump (1.55 meters) at the Dave Labor Invitational at Slippery Rock. The 400-meter relay, which included senior Abigail Painter (Ligonier Valley) finished seventh (52.08 seconds).
Men’s volleyball
Grove City: Junior Carson Good put down 16 kills and junior Andrew Kessler (Penn-Trafford) added 10, while sophomore Keith Otto had 10 digs in a 3-2 loss to Chatham.
Saint Vincent: The Bearcats (14-4) secured the No. 2 seed in the PAC Tournament. The Bearcats will host the winner of Chatham-Geneva on Thursday night.
Men’s lacrosse
Washington & Jefferson: Senior Brandon Petrarco (Norwin) scored four goals and added six ground balls as the Presidents edged past Thiel, 12-10. Petrarco leads the team with 20 goals and 28 points.
Women’s lacrosse
Saint Vincent: Melanie Seefeldt had three goals and four assists, sophomore Katie Smith and grad student Chloe Herring each had three goals, and senior Carolina Walters (Latrobe) had a goal and two assists in a 12-9 win over Bethany.
A unique note on Walters, a spring dual-sport athlete: Not only does she have 130 career points (85 goals, 45 assists) in lacrosse, but she recently picked up her 100th career win in tennis.
Seton Hill: Senior attacker Mila Udovcic was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week. She had 12 goals and four assists over a pair of wins for the Griffins. She had identical six-goal, four-assist games against Lock Haven and Edinboro.
Westminster: Freshman Garrett Henning (Norwin) had an assist in a 12-5 loss to Chatham.
