Inner Groove Brewing announced it will close its taproom in Pittsburgh’s Allentown neighborhood after four years. In a social media post from the taproom, Inner Groove said the last day of operations for the Allentown spot will be Saturday, April 18.

The taproom will host several “last-chance” events, including a farewell party on its closing day.

Inner Groove’s Verona location will remain open, and the brewery will continue doing pop-ups around Pittsburgh, the post said.

“Over the years, we’ve built incredible relationships, watched friendships form, celebrated milestones and shared countless beers, laughs and memories. What started as a taproom truly became a family,” the post read. “Thank you for supporting us, believing in us and making this place what it was. This isn’t goodbye forever — just goodbye to this space … The love, the connections and the Inner Groove family live on.”

Members of Inner Groove’s Backstage Pass program can still receive complimentary beer through April 18 or continue their membership at the Verona taproom.

The music-themed brewery opened its original location in Verona in June 2019. Founded by two couples — Kelly and Tim Melle and Kevin and Jennifer Walzer — the brewery’s name was inspired by the concept of “inner groove” tracks on vinyl records, secret songs imprinted near the label.

The satellite Inner Groove location opened in Allentown in May 2022, creating several collaboration beers, hosting live performances and vinyl listening parties, and participating in Three Rivers Beer Week.

Inner Groove co-owner Jennifer Walzer could not be immediately reached for comment on Monday.
