Following a quiet Monday, this week’s WPIAL baseball section series begin on a chilly Tuesday.

Two teams in Section 2-6A are coming off three-game sweeps last week.

One team was dominant while the other squeezed three straight victories from a longtime rival.

Now Canon-McMillan and Norwin are set to begin a three-game series this week to determine first place in the section.

The Big Macs are undefeated this season with an 8-0 overall record.

Last week, Canon-McMillan rolled past Woodland Hills in three games by a combined score of 36-6.

It was not as easy for the Knights, who enter this week with a record of 5-1.

A week ago, Norwin edged Hempfield in three games by a combined five runs, winning by scores of 6-5, 6-3 and 3-2.

A year ago, the Big Macs won the section crown, finishing one game in front of the Knights.

Norwin did win the section series against Canon-McMillan, taking two of the three games.

In the 2025 Class 6A playoffs, both teams lost to eventual champion Seneca Valley. The Big Macs lost in the semifinals, 4-0, while the Knights fell in the district finals to the Raiders, 1-0.

The first and third games of the series this week are at Norwin.

Game time Tuesday is at 4 p.m., and the first two games of this 6A showdown can be viewed Tuesday and Wednesday on Trib HSSN.

Reigning champs in key series

The current WPIAL baseball champions in Class 4A, 3A and 2A will begin key section series with first place up for grabs.

6A softball showdown

The top three district softball teams in Class 6A have a combined record of 15-2 overall.

Two of them collide Tuesday.

Once-beaten Seneca Valley will host undefeated Canon-McMillan at 4 p.m.

The 2025 runner-up Raiders are 3-1 in 6A and 5-1 for the season.

Seneca Valley had a four-game winning stream end in a loss last week to Hempfield, 5-2.
