The Allison Park Sportsmen’s Club hosted its annual kids fishing day April 4 at the children’s fishing area of Little Pine Creek at Fawcett Field in Shaler.
The event, held on the first day of trout season, was open to children 12 and younger. More than 90 children attended, which the club said was a record turnout.
Unlike last year, when the weather was not ideal and the creek was running high, this year’s event benefited from great weather. The stream was in good shape and the fish were biting.
Club members mentored children, as some caught their first fish and others caught the biggest fish of their lives. Bait and tackle was provided.
