Pittsburgh police briefly evacuated some buildings on the North Side Wednesday after a report of a grenade but said they soon determined there was “no risk to the public.”
At approximately 11:35 a.m., officers from the Zone 1 station and the police bureau’s bomb squad responded to the 500 block of East Ohio Street for reports of a grenade on a porch.
Police said officers began evacuations in the area.
The bomb squad, however, determined “it was an inert training grenade and was not live,” according to police.
At approximately 12:15 p.m., police said those evacuated were allowed to return.
Police are continuing to investigate.
