Top seeds Advaita Sircar of North Allegheny and Max Henson of Belle Vernon looked to be in championship form on the first day of the WPIAL boys singles tennis championships Wednesday.

Sircar, the 2024 Class 3A champion, will meet Tigers teammate Evan Kaufman in the finals at 1 p.m. Thursday at North Allegheny. Henson, the defending Class 2A champ, will meet Quaker Valley’s Will Meagher.

Henson already won a rematch of last year’s finals, defeating North Catholic’s Justin Garvey in the semifinals, 6-1, 6-2. Meagher, the third seed, defeated second-seeded Silas Morris of Greensburg Salem, 6-2, 6-1.

The Class 3A bracket was a little more unpredictable. Kaufman defeated No. 3 Luca Ritovoi of Mt. Lebanon in the quarterfinals and No. 2 Logan Memije of Gateway in the semifinals, 6-3, 6-2. Sircar defeated No. 12 seed Carter Lichtman of Upper St. Clair in the semifinals, 6-0, 6-3.
