AI is driving us “down a cliff road. A mistake will kill you. Now we’re driving at 75 instead of 25.” That’s from the head of safety at Anthropic.
AI bots have lied, deceived, threatened violence, generated self-harm in kids, blocked shutdowns and monitoring and done other things they were not programmed to do. The creators of these entities do not understand their internal workings. Never have we had such a technology.
But we have to keep driving toward the cliff because the insidious Chinese are right behind us. Comforting to know, however, that the overseers of these metastatic apparitions give them just a 1 in 4 chance of wiping us out.
