The U.S. Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Unit in Pittsburgh released its security guidelines Thursday ahead of the NFL Draft.
A security zone will be in effect on local waterways during the event “to ensure public safety, safeguard participants, and protect the maritime transportation system.”
The regulated areas will be enforced from midnight April 23 through 11:59 p.m. April 25:
• Ohio River from mile marker 0.0 to 0.5 near Rivers Casino
• Allegheny River from mile marker 0.0 to 0.6 at the Roberto Clemente Bridge
• Monongahela River from mile marker 0.0 to 0.3 at the Fort Pitt Bridge

All recreational and commercial vessel traffic will be prohibited from entering these security zones during the draft without permission from the U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port or the U.S. Coast Guard on-scene patrol commander, according to the announcement.
“All vessel operators are advised to plan voyages accordingly and anticipate possible delays,” the U.S. Coast Guard in Pittsburgh said.
Those requesting authorization to go through should contact MSU Pittsburgh at 412-670-4288 or via VHF-FM Channel 16.
