Westmoreland County is looking for summer help.

The county is seeking to hire as many as 15 high school seniors and college students for seasonal jobs in the county’s parks department.

Open positions include environmental aides who will staff the county’s summer day camp programs and children activities.

There are openings for program aides.

The county is looking for an administrative assistant at public works administrative offices in Hempfield who will assist in the implementation and setup of park events and programs such as event marketing and logistics.

The county also has a help-wanted sign out for students to fill temporary summer maintenance jobs to cut grass, set up picnic pavilions, collect trash and paint at Twin Lakes Park in Hempfield and Latrobe, Mammoth Park in Mt. Pleasant, Cedar Creek Park, in Rostraver, Northmoreland Park in Allegheny Township, and Swede Hill Park in Greensburg.

The 40-hour-a-week jobs are expected to run from May until the end of summer.

Pay is $12 an hour.

Applicants are required be be 18 or older, have valid drivers’ licenses and must pass a criminal background check.

“These are jobs we need to fill, and it’s a big part of our summer program,” said Westmoreland County Public Works Director Dante DeCario.
