The Pittsburgh Penguins signed undrafted defenseman Jake Livanavage to a two-year entry-level contract Friday.

According to Puckpedia, the deal carries a salary cap hit of $975,000. The contract begins with the current season and could allow Livanavage to make his NHL debut in one of the Penguins’ final three games of the regular season.

Livanavage, 21, just completed his junior season at North Dakota. In 39 games this season, he scored 25 points (five goals, 20 assists).

North Dakota was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament by Wisconsin, losing 2-1 on Thursday.

A native of Gilbert, Ariz., Livanavage is listed as 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds.
