Iron City Distilling is hosting two releases today, combining the launch of its third Bessemer Rye Single Barrel release with a book signing by Master Distiller Matt Strickland.
The third single barrel release is available in the East Deer distillery’s gift shop. No bottles will be sold online.
“Crafted entirely in-house from 100% rye and bottled at barrel strength, each single barrel highlights a distinct expression of Iron City Distilling’s signature spice-forward whiskey,” said a statement from the distillery.
The latest release includes two barrels. The first was aged two years and 10 months. They have notes of straw, orange peel, and cracked pepper on the nose that lead into cinnamon red hots, green peppercorn and bay leaf on the palate, “with a long, evolving finish.”
The second was aged two years and four months. It has scents of caramel and coffee grounds followed by rye spice, nutmeg and a hint of bubblegum, finishing with a subtle rock candy note, the statement said.
Iron City is simultaneously host the release of Strickland’s new book, “Whiskey: From Grain to Glass,” available on Amazon and coming to the distillery’s gift shop. Strickland will be onsite signing copies during the event, giving guests the opportunity to pair a bottle purchase with a signed book.
A total of 350 bottles will be available across both barrels, priced at $75 each. Purchases are limited to one bottle per person.
