Norwin senior lacrosse player Karlie Johnson became the girls program’s all-time goals leader with her 160th score.
The record-breaking goal came against Peters Township on March 30 at Yough, pushing Johnson past Ava Wilson, who had 159 goals before graduating in 2024.
Johnson tied the mark March 27 at Penn-Trafford when she scored seven times in a 10-10 double-overtime tie.
Johnson, a Westminster (Utah) commit, has 17 goals this season and 162 for her career.
The Knights took a 3-0-1 record into the Easter break.
Chaney to Army
Norwin wrestler Lillian Chaney accepted an appointment to Army West Point. The senior was 10-15 competing at 148 pounds this season for the Knights.
Kugler’s big blast
Norwin and Pine-Richland were tied 4-4 going to the eighth inning, but it wouldn’t have been that way had it not been for Norwin’s Maddy Kugler.
Kugler cranked a three-run homer in the top of the seventh, and Norwin went on to push past the host Rams, 8-5.
Kugler finished 3 for 5 with five RBIs, adding a double in the win. Diem Wardzinski added a solo homer for Norwin.
Tennis wins
The Norwin boys tennis team edged past Latrobe, 3-2.
The Knights won both doubles matches with the teams of Sean Stukis/Michael Barone and Danny Metzger/CJ Elliott taking wins.
Tanner Johnson won at No. 1 singles for the Knights.
Dunn deal
IUP baseball senior outfielder Elijah Dunn (Norwin) reached 100 career hits when the Crimson Hawks were outslugged by Point Park, 20-16.
Dunn hit three home runs during a four-game series against Seton Hill.
Schmidt athlete of week
Duquesne track and field freshman Melani Schmidt (Norwin) was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week.
She posted her first wins at the college level, taking the 200-meter dash (25.0 seconds) and 400-meter dash (56.59) at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
She ran the opening leg of the second-place 400-meter relay (47.76).
Her 400 time leads all A-10 freshmen and is fourth overall in the conference.
Whalen steals another record
Seton Hill senior baseball player Jack Whalen (Norwin) is tied for the PSAC lead in hits with 49 and leads the conference with 33 stolen bases in 44 attempts.
Whalen is now the Griffins’ all-time leader in stolen bases with 133.
Sincak goes yard
Westmoreland County Community College baseball freshman Jake Sincak, a Norwin alum, had two hits, two runs and three RBIs as the Wolfpack beat Potomac State, 14-4.
A 13-6 win followed in the second of the doubleheader as Sincak hit two homers, doubled and drove in five runs.

Washington & Jefferson: Sophomore Keegan Carr, went 4 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs in a 17-7 win over Allegheny.
Men’s lacrosse
Washington & Jefferson: Senior Brandon Petrarco scored four goals and added six ground balls as the Presidents edged past Thiel, 12-10. Petrarco leads the team with 20 goals and 28 points.
Westminster: Freshman Garrett Henning had an assist in a 12-5 loss to Chatham.
