Anyone who has been around Aspinwall for their entire life, like I have, knows that the Mount Rushmore of Aspinwall leadership includes men of honor and integrity like Art Esser, Ben Killian and Joe Noro.
These fine gentlemen wanted to serve the community simply because they love(d) this town with every ounce of their being. They spent decades dedicated to making this town what it is today. None of them ever compromised their character by committing a crime and then making lame excuses as to why they did it.
“Brain fart” is something fifth graders giggle about in the back of a school bus. For anyone who is to lead “The Town That Pride Built,” I implore them to do it with more decency, dignity, decorum, maturity and professionalism. But why would I expect anything different from someone who knowingly and admittedly committed a felony only weeks into his term? And then, in one of his next acts, he ignored and defied a resolution from council asking for his resignation. The act of a mayor committing a felony and remaining in office is an embarrassment to this town.
I want to personally thank and commend council President Jeff Harris and his four fellow Democrat council members who ignored party-line politics and stood up for all of Aspinwall’s citizens. They cast their vote for what they know to be true and just.
