A Butler man who threatened in online posts last year to kill President Donald Trump and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents pleaded guilty in federal court on Monday.

Shawn Monper, 33, will be sentenced Aug. 12 by U.S. District Judge W. Scott Hardy on two counts of influencing, impeding or retaliating against a federal official.

A plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s Office calls for four years in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release.

Monper was charged a year ago after Google sent an emergency disclosure of information to the FBI following threats Monper posted on his YouTube account called “Mr Satan.”

The threats were made between Jan. 15, 2025 and April 5, federal investigators said.

According to the criminal complaint, on Feb. 17, 2025, Monper posted online: “Nah, we just need to start killing people, Trump, Elon, all the heads of agencies Trump appointed, and anyone who stands in the way. Remember, we are the majority, MAGA is a minority of the country, and by the time its (sic) time to make the move, they will be weakened, many will be crushed by these policies, and they will want revenge too. American Revolution 2.0.”

Then, on March 18, 2025, prosecutors said, Monper wrote “ICE are terrorist people, we need to start killing them.”

According to the prosecution, Monper obtained a permit to carry a concealed gun shortly after Trump was inaugurated. He also purchased three guns during the time period of the threats — all of which will be forfeited as part of his plea agreement.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan McKenna said Monday that Monper’s interest in firearms coincided with Trump’s election in 2024.

Monper also visited a shooting range on three dates in March 2025, which matched up with pictures of guns investigators found on Monper’s phone.

After the government recited the facts of the case, Monper’s federal public defender, Kathryn Kitt Dyer, responded, “We agree he committed those threats.”

Monper will remain in custody pending sentencing.
